CANSKATE

Skate Canada’s CanSkate program is Canada’s premier learn-to-skate program for beginners of all ages. Designed for skaters ages 3 and up, CanSkate focuses on developing strong fundamental skating skills in a fun, safe, and active environment.
Using a nationally recognized badge and reward system, skaters progress through stages while learning balance, control, agility, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning, and more. Lessons are taught by certified professional coaches with the support of trained program assistants to help skaters build confidence on the ice. CanSkate is the perfect starting point for future hockey players, ringette players, figure skaters, speed skaters, or anyone wanting to learn to skate for fun and recreation.

At RedPine Skating, we offer two exciting Skate Canada CanSkate pathways designed to help skaters build confidence, strong skating fundamentals, and a love for being on the ice.

CanHockey
CanHockey is a Skate Canada CanSkate-based program specifically designed for hockey players looking to improve their skating fundamentals in a fun, high-energy environment. Focused on developing balance, agility, edge control, power, speed, and overall skating efficiency, the program helps athletes build the strong skating foundation needed for success in hockey.

Using nationally recognized Skate Canada teaching methods, CanHockey combines skill development with game-focused movement patterns that translate directly onto the ice. Players work on forward and backward skating, transitions, stopping, quick starts, crossovers, and stride mechanics while building confidence and athleticism.

At RedPine Skating School, CanHockey emphasizes holistic athlete development by creating a positive and supportive environment where players can strengthen both their skating ability and self-confidence. The program is open to all skill levels and is designed to help young athletes grow on and off the ice.

CanStar
CanStar is a Skate Canada-based program specifically designed for skaters interested in developing foundational skating skills with a figure skating focus in a fun, supportive, and engaging environment. The program helps skaters build confidence, balance, coordination, edge control, flexibility, and overall skating ability while introducing the fundamentals of figure skating.

Using nationally recognized Skate Canada teaching methods, CanStar combines skill development with introductory figure skating elements such as turns, edges, spins, jumps, musicality, and performance skills. Skaters progress through structured instruction that encourages both technical growth and personal development at their own pace.

At RedPine Skating School, CanStar emphasizes holistic athlete development by creating a positive and inclusive environment where skaters can strengthen both their skating skills and self-confidence. The program is open to all skill levels and is designed to help youth grow on and off the ice.
